Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has urged Nigerian star Alex Iwobi not to get ahead of himself following a series of good performances for the Gunners.
The 20-year-old shone for Arsenal in their 4-1 win over Hull City over the weekend as he made a decisive contribution in two of the sides’ goals.
The wing also impressed in the Gunners’ first Champions League game of the season as Arsenal fought back to draw 1-1 with French champions Paris Saint Germaine, while all the signs are suggesting his is fast becoming a key member of Wenger’s squad.
Wenger, however, has been quick to remind the youngster that he has a long way to go in his career.
‘Yes, he had a good performance, and you want him to improve,’ the Frenchman told the club’s website.
‘He is 20 years old, and I think he has talent, he has ambition, he has a big passion for the game and until now he has humility. We have to take care that he keeps that quality, because it’s an important one.’
Wenger admitted he has been impressed by the combination of attributes Iwobi possesses.
‘But he has gained confidence and power. I believe as well he has a good combination between quick passing, picking players out and running with the ball. He gets that balance right, until now, and that’s not easy,’ Wenger concluded.
Iwobi has made four appearances for Arsenal so far this season, assisting on four occasions.
