Mamelodi Sundowns forward Thabiso Kutumela is confident his side can walk away with all three points against his former team Maritzburg United when the two teams square off at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Brazilians will be relishing the chance to return to winning ways after they were eliminated from the MTN8 following their humiliating 3-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the semi-finals.

Sundowns will now look to continue their form in the DStv Premiership which has seen them claim four consecutive victories against Chippa United, Golden Arrows, AmaZulu and Marumo Gallants.

They currently find themselves sitting at the top of the league table – level on 22 points with second-placed Richards Bay, having won seven games, drawn one and only conceded two defeats so far.

Kutumela, who previously played for Maritzburg United, where he made 74 appearances and scored 284 goals, admits that he’s been keeping a close eye on his former teams performance this season.

“Since I’ve left the team, they’ve been playing but they don’t have consistency in their approach and I think we can definitely get three points from them,” Kutumela told his club’s official website.

“Their line up keeps changing, even the coach and the players are still new, they are still trying to find combinations and their style of play.”

“I know how they play their games, when they play derby games you can see that they want to win it and also when they play against big teams they show that they have nothing to lose, they give it their everything and that’s why they were able to get three points in the previous game when we played against them.

“But now we have to focus and make sure that we win this game, it’s a must win to make our supporters happy.”
