Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Patrick Mabedi felt his side should have done better in their 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup.

Goals by Jeremy Brockie and substitute Themba Zwane saw Masandawana clinch the first-ever edition of the Stadium Management trophy known as the Shell Helix Ultra Cup.

Chiefs legend Mabedi congratulated Pitso Mosimane’s side, in addition to revaling the importance of losing matches prior to the start of the 2018-19 Absa Premiership season.

‘Congratulations to Sundowns. They have us a good game. We should of have done better.

‘We had chances in the first half. We didn’t compete. This is our first competitive match but it’s not an excuse.

‘It’s important to lose now and do well as time goes,’ he added.

The Malawian also said that the club is happy with the current crop of players, revealing that they are looking to bring in another left-back to compete with Letlhogonolo Mirwa and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya.

‘We happy with the squad we have. We are looking at bringing in a left-back But we are sorted in other position. We are still in pre-season. We got to see where we are.

‘Since Solinas joined us, he’s still observing.

‘Last year is history. We learnt. We took positives. We had a good team. We were just unfortunate not to score goals. Now we have a way of getting things right this season,’ he concluded.
