Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Tiyani Mabunda has been called up to replace teammate Hlompho Kekana in the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of the must-win World Cup qualifier on Friday.

The 32-year-old midfielder and Sundowns captain was excused from the camp after a tragic accident claimed the life of his mother-in-law on Monday.

South Africa confirmed that club and country teammate, Mabunda will replace Kekana.

The two sides clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday with kickoff set for 19:00.
