Mamelodi Sundowns’ new signing, George Maluleka, says he is happy to be back on the field and training with his new teammates, who have welcomed him, while coach Pitso Mosimane says they have already discussed tactics.
The midfielder is currently with the Brazilians in Rustenburg, where the team is preparing for the return of the 2019-20 season following the coronavirus-enforced hiatus.
The midfielder shocked many when he signed a pre-contract with Sundowns back in March, opting not to extend his contract with Kaizer Chiefs and thus officially joined the Chloorkop-based club on 30 June when his contract with Chiefs expired.
The midfielder may not be able to play for Downs when the season resumes as he can only be registered once the transfer window officially opens, but while waiting he has begun training with his new teammates as he looks to adapt to their style of play.
‘The first day was good and great to be back on the field, a lot of physical training and I enjoyed myself. The guys have been good, I was received with a warm welcome, it was very good and I am happy,’ Maluleka told Sundowns’ official website.
‘He is a good boy, a good player, intelligent, intrinsic also. We have already spoken about tactics and we have put him through the process of how our No 6 and 8 plays,’ head coach Mosimane said.
‘He comes with a lot of set-piece delivery skill, he can score, can shoot from outside the box and is willing to learn which is good and we wish him all the best,’ he added.
