Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka believes his side successfully exploited AmaZulu’s weaknesses following their 3-0 victory at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Amakhosi advanced to the Telkom Knockout Cup quarter-final, courtesy of goals by Maluleka, Hendrick Ekstein and Siphiwe Tshabalala.
The 28-year-old spoke of his delight at getting on to the scoresheet, but felt his side could have scored more goals.
‘Thanks. I want to thank my technical team, my teammates, we worked very hard today. We had a game plan,’ Maluleka told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘It was very clear from the start, we knew they’re a team that changes formations a lot. We tried our best to exploit the spaces where they’re very weak, and I think we succeeded based on the results.
‘We could have had a couple more goals, two or three. (Hendrick) Ekstein had a couple of chances, (Bernard) Parker and (Dumisani) Zuma. We’re happy to go through, and it’s back to the drawing board,’ he concluded.
Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to continue their winning ways when they take on Polokwane City in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday, with kick-off set for 19:30.
