Baroka midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane is relieved to see his side turn their fortunes around against Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarter-final of the Telkom Knockout.
The Limpopo-based outfit became the first team to advance into the semi-finals after claiming a 2-0 victory over Pitso Mosimane’s side at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Mdantsane, who was named Man of the Match, insists the win has given the team much-needed confidence following their poor form in the Absa Premiership this season.
‘Thanks to the Almighty God. Thanks to the team, the technical team, the chairman and the supporters. It’s not a good season for us [so far]. We really needed this game today just to boost our confidence,’ Mdantsane told SuperSport TV after the match.
‘That’s the only thing we’ve been struggling on, scoring. We’ve been working more on our finishing, I think it paid off today. We could have scored more goals but it’s the name of the game. We will take this to the next round.
‘For me, I can rename this award, not to say Man of the Match [award] but it is the Team of the Game [award] because we’ve been communicating well, they’ve been supporting me from the start of the game.’
