Free Agents FC midfielder Thulani Dhladhla believes his side can stun Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 on Sunday, with the minnows confident they can match the Soweto giants.

No team has been ousted from the Nedbank Cup by lower league teams on more occasions than Chiefs, a total of seven in the last 16 seasons, far and away the worst record.

ABC Motsepe League side Free Agents, a team that also resides in Gauteng, are the latest to have a go and Dhladhla says there should be no reason why they cannot pull off another upsets.

Chiefs last lost to third-tier opponents in 2011 when Baroka FC stunned them 2-1 in the quarterfinals, but were ousted at the Last 32 stage by second-tier Milford FC last season.

“I would say my teammates are excited (to play Chiefs), personally I’m excited because I think it’s everyone’s dream to play against Chiefs, Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns,” Dhladhla said.

“So I think they’re feeling the way that I’m feeling, they are really looking forward to this match and they are starting to prepare for it.

“I think the fixture favours us because they’re a team that has a history of losing against lower division clubs, which means we have a good chance of winning against them.”

The Nedbank Cup kicks-off on Friday when Marumo Gallants travel to second-tier Pretoria Callies.
