Orlando Pirates midfielder Abbubaker Mobara says they are solely focused on securing a top-eight spot, ahead of the sides’ Absa Premiership encounters against Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Soweto giants are unbeaten in their last four consecutive league encounters, defeating Chippa United 2-1 in their most recent encounter, which saw Mobara pick up the man-of-the-match award. The former Ajax Cape Town man is hoping that Pirates will extend their good run of form against the first and second-placed teams in the league.
‘It has been a good week for me, but the season is still on with two big games coming up and it is going to be difficult, but then the coach will provide the solutions for those games against Wits and Sundowns,”’ he told KickOff.
‘We need to keep focus for Thursday [against Wits] and Sunday [against Sundowns] to keep us in the top eight until the end of the season.
‘We know that we cannot win the league, but the top eight is what we want and that is what we are going to play for,’ he added.

The defender-cum-midfielder also alluded to the debate regarding his best position within the team, citing the impact of Swedish mentor Jonevret.
‘Wherever the coach puts me I play, because I believe in my abilities and I always try to do as the coach tells me.
‘I know at first it was a difficult decision because I want to play right back, but I must understand that maybe the team needs me in the centre of the park and I have to respect the coach telling me to do a job for him and the team. That is all I am here to do, just to play,’ he concluded.
Pirates travel to the Bidvest Stadium on Thursday evening to face The Clever Boys in an Absa Premiership tie, which is set for 19:30.
