Ryan Moon has revealed that the belief in the Kaizer Chiefs camp is still strong despite recent disappointments in the league.
Speaking at a Kaizer Chiefs media day building up to Saturday’s Absa Premiership clash against AmaZulu, the striker said it was important that the side shifts their focus from the Nedbank Cup back to the league.
‘AmaZulu is always a tough team. Especially when they come out against the big teams, they really lift their game. We are looking forward to the game as it is a crucial three points for us coming back from our loss against Pirates. I think it is important that we get the three points,’ said Moon.
Moon, however, emphasised that although it is important to keep the pressure on those above them, his side remains focused on themselves. ‘We got to run our own race and just focus on the three points at the time. It is important that we collect these three points on the weekend. There’s seven games left and there’s three points available in each game. Like I said, we just have to run our own race, not worry about what’s happening at the top or the bottom and just focus on ourselves.’
With seven games to play, Amakhosi are not ready to give up on the title just yet. Moon is adamant that the belief is still strong in the camp going into the final stretch.
‘The belief is still there and will always be there, it is football and anything can happen. We need to focus on ourselves. I think it is important that we have the self-belief. We believe in our coach, we believe in the team we have and the players around us. If we don’t believe in ourselves, how can the fans believe in us?’
