PUMA has unveiled the new Manchester City home kit for the 2020-21 season to be worn by the men’s, women’s and youth teams.
The home jersey features a mosaic pattern in classic City blue and white, with navy trim, and the kit is completed by white shorts and light-blue socks.
Art, industry, football, music, fashion, noise and colour are Manchester’s DNA and the iconic mosaics located in the creative hub of Manchester’s Northern Quarter are a celebration of this diverse culture.
Mosaics have also been an important part of Manchester City’s history, stretching back almost 100 years to when the original City mosaic first adorned the gates of the Maine Road Stadium. Today, the mosaic tradition continues with club greats being immortalised as mosaic artworks at the City Football Academy, inspiring the next generation of players.
Mark Kennedy, the artist behind the mosaics in Manchester as well as the player artworks at the City Football Academy, said: ‘When I began my journey as an artist, the Northern Quarter was a derelict area that I looked at and wanted to build up. I began creating Manchester icons using ceramic plates and tiles, integrating my own artistic style. My family and I have always been huge City fans, so I created artwork of the players too. Over time I was commissioned to create artwork for the club and the city of Manchester, so I feel very privileged to see PUMA use my art as inspiration for the new City Home jersey.’
The home kit will be available for R999 from 16 July 2020 at PUMA.com, PUMA stores, The Cross Trainer, Sportsmans Warehouse, Totalsports, Studio 88 and select retailers.
