West Brom v Spurs

West Bromwich Albion scored in stoppage time to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in a Premier League encounter at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors got off to the brighter start of the two teams and should have taken the lead in the seventh minute when a good spell of play saw Christian Eriksen find Harry Kane in the area, but the striker failed to direct his effort goalbound.

It was one-way play for a majority of the first half with Spurs doing all the attacking, however, they failed to find the back of the net and were guilty of missing easy opportunities with Eriksen, Victor Wanyama and Danny Rose the main culprits.

Towards the latter stages of the first stanza, West Brom came close to taking the lead in quick succession, but Hugo Lloris was equal to efforts from Chris Brunt and Ahmed Hegazi.

Erik Lamela follwed suite in squandering a goalscoing opportunity with virtually the last kick of the first-half.

West Brom came out intent in the second half and often opted for the route-one approach with Brunt, Craig Dawson and Hegazi the targets.

Much like the first half, Spurs had chances, but they continued to be wasteful. West Brom did a good job in pinning Spurs in their own half with their series of long balls.

Spurs opted for the first change of the game as Son Heung-Min replaced Dele Alli, while Daniel Sturridge replaced Salomón Rondón for West Brom minutes later.

Kane almost netted what would have been the contender for own-goal of the season in the 73rd minute, but Lloris pulled off a fine save.

The visitors made another attacking change as Lucas Moura replaced Lamela late on, while Nacer Chadli replaced Jay Rodriguez.

West Brom were rewarded for their efforts as they netted in the 92nd minute of the clash after Jake Livermore forced it over following a goalmouth scramble. The goal proved to be the winner as West Brom ran out 1-0 victors.
