Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro felt his side had enough time to get back into the match and walk away with a positive result against Cape Town Spurs.
The Buccaneers were forced to endure a 2-1 defeat to the Urban Warriors after Evidence Makgopa’s goal was cancelled out by goals from Lubeni Haukongo and Jarrod Aidan Moroole at the DHL Stadium.
Pirates remain in 13th place with nine points from eight games despite the defeat, while Spurs claimed their first win in the DStv Premiership but remain at the bottom of the log.
Riveiro believes his side had more than enough chances to get back into the game but felt two early goals made it difficult for them.
“I think we finished the first-half in a good space, very close to equalising again. I think in the first-half it takes a couple of minutes, maybe five more minutes we finished with the second goal,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV after the game.
“In the second-half it takes time again to get the rhythm, the interruptions and stuff. And like I said, we have more than enough, it’s not a problem of we have, we don’t have.
“It’s about today is not same game than one week ago, we need to start better. Away games demand you an extra percent. Today we didn’t and like I said if you start again losing 2-0 early, then it’s almost impossible.”
