Lokeren midfielder Ayanda Patosi put in an inspired performance for Lokeren as he assisted twice amid frustration for many SA stars elsewhere across Europe.
Patosi was the key man for his Belgian club in the contest as he set up Jaja to net his side’s first goal before popping up to supply Marko Miric for Lokeren’s second just six minutes later. Having been substituted off after 79 minutes, Lokeren endured a nervy end to the game in Patosi’s absence, conceding late but holding on for a 2-1 win.
Over in Romania, May Mahlangu made an appearance off the bench for his Dinamo Bucuresti side as they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Botosani, while Granwald Scott was called upon as a substitute as his Slovak Super Liga club Slovan Bratislava were victorious 3-1 over Zemplin Michalovce.
There was much frustration for Lebogang Phiri in Denmark as his Brondby side surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Randers on Sunday, with Phiri lasting the full 90 minutes for his side. It was a similar tale for Kamohelo Mokotjo and his Dutch side Twente, who could only manage a 1-1 draw, as the midfielder featured for the duration of the contest.
Finally, there was no joy for striker Dino Ndlovu as he returned to the side following a goal-scoring Europa League display, as Qarabag suffered a painful 2-0 defeat at the hands of Qabala.
