Man of the match Miguel Timm has opened up on why he was left in tears after winning his maiden MTN8 trophy with Orlando Pirates.
The Buccaneers won their first piece of silverware this campaign after they earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Monnapule Saleng scored the decisive goal for the Buccaneers in the 25th minute to fire his side to their 11th title in Durban.
Timm says he was elated after winning his first trophy with Pirates and admits that he could not hold his emotions back following his impressive performance against Usuthu.
“It’s the best feeling ever,” he said on SABC Sport.
“My wife said she’s never seen my cry, tonight’s the first time.
“It means so much to me. I came here for this reason and I don’t think anything will beat this feeling, winning it with this team.”
‘It’s ok, it’s a cup. Sometimes it doesn’t need to be pretty. It needs guts, you need to play with your heart on your sleeves, but when you’re tired I look at all the people who came out here and rally behind us and I look at this badge, it lifts me up all the time when I’m tired.
“That’s why I keep on going,” he added. “Amazing things,”
“We’re not perfect, we’re far from perfect. We know we’re inconsistent.
“But today when it mattered most we show character and we do what needs to be done. That’s why we’re the champions.”
