A bust of Portugal and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been slammed as ‘questionable’, after it was unveiled at the Aeroporto da Madeira on Wednesday.

The Real Madrid forward was joined by guests and hundreds of fans in his native Madeira Islands for the official ceremony to rename the local airport as Aeroporto Cristiano Ronaldo.

Portugal’s president and the prime minister flew to the island and unveiled a commemorative plaque outside the terminal entrance, above a bust of Ronaldo.

Unfortunately, it looks nothing like the four-time Ballon d’Or winner and the ensuing controversy has overshadowed the occasion.

People have been quick to point out that the artwork is far from a perfect likeness of the former Manchester United forward.
