Xherdan Shaqiri scored a late winner for Switzerland as they edged Serbia 2-1 in their Group E World Cup clash on Friday night.
Serbia got off to a fantastic start when Aleksandar Mitrovic opened the scoring inside five minutes. The striker rose highest to meet a Dusan Tadic cross with a bullet header which left the keeper with no chance.

Serbia were deserved 1-0 leaders at the break with Switzerland not showing enough to find a way past a dogged Serbian defence.
The Swiss team, however, hit back early in the second half when Granit Xhaka equalised on 52 minutes. The ball rolled out to the Arsenal midfielder who unleashed a venomous strike from range which rifled into the back of the net.

Then just as it seemed as though the game was heading for a draw, Shaqiri broke away from the Serbian defence and slipped the ball past the keeper to win the game for his team.
