Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has heaped praise on Edmilson Dove and Christian Saile following their performance against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the latest edition of the Soweto derby.
The Glamour Boys walked away with maximum points after they secured a narrow 1-0 victory over the Buccaneers through an own goal by Olisa Ndah at the FNB Stadium this past weekend.
Amakhosi’s victory over the Sea Robbers was their fifth successive victory over their arch-rivals as they clinched all three points and the bragging rights on the day.
Mokwena admits that it was important for his side to secure maximum points, especially after their 3-2 defeat against Golden Arrows a week ago.
“It was important to get the three points today,” Zwane told his club’s official website.
“I feel we gave them too much respect in the first 15 minutes. We played in patches. We set pressing traps for them in the middle but when we won the ball we didn’t do enough with it. We were too loose with the ball.
“We did well in transition and created a few chances, Like when Saile was clean through on goal. He was very forceful during the game.
“Defensively, I was very happy. With Dove back we did not allow any space in front or behind. He was missing last week and I believe he would have made the difference, like today.”
