Egyptian giants Al Ahly have confirmed that they have parted ways with the club’s head coach Pitso Mosimane by mutual consent.
The South African mentor joined the Red Eagles in a shock move back in 2020 after he parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns, enjoying a highly successful stint with the club at domestic, continental and international levels.
Mosimane guided Ahly to six trophies in his 21-month stint at the club, including two Caf Champions League titles, two Caf Super Cup trophies, the Egyptian Premier League title and the Egyptian Cup as well as two consecutive Fifa Club World Cup bronze medals.
The former Sundowns coach leaves the Egyptian giants, having won 65 matches, drawn 22 and only conceded 10 defeats since he took over in 2020.
However, Ahly have since confirmed that former assistant coach Samy Komsan will take charge of the club as interim manager.

“During the meeting, they all decided that he should continue his mission with Al Ahly as a result of the achievements he managed to accomplish during the previous period.
“However, during the meeting that was previously held, Mosimane requested to leave and that he is satisfied with the achievements he managed to accomplish with the club.
“Later on, Mosimane’s decision was discussed and it was decided to approve his request to part ways with the club and to thank him for the achievements that he accomplished with the club.”
