Bafana Bafana have dropped one position in the latest Fifa rankings after rising to 70th place in July.

The South African national team moved up in the rankings last month after reaching the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament held in Egypt.

Bafana saw their international friendly encounter with Zambia cancelled due to the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa, before Madagascar also withdrew from their friendly.

However, Molefi Ntseki’s side will have a chance to improve their position in the standings when they get their 2021 Afcon qualifiers under way from 7-5 October.

South Africa has been drawn in Group C alongside the likes of Ghana, Sudan and the preliminary round winner between Mauritius and Sao Tome.

Take a look at the top-10 ranked African nations:

1) Senegal – 1546 points
2) Tunisia – 1493 points
3) Nigeria – 1482 points
4) Algeria – 1466 points
