Bafana Bafana and Algeria were forced to settle for a thrilling 3-3 draw in an entertaining encounter at a packed Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers.
The Algerians broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute through Yassine Benzia before Bafana drew the game level thanks to a goal by Themba Zwane in the 34th minute.
South Africa took the lead for the first time just before the break when Zwane completed his brace to curl the ball past goalkeeper Moustafa Zeghba to make it 2-1 heading into the break.
The home side found an equalising goal in the 53rd minute courtesy if a goal by Yacine Brahimi, however, South Africa restored their lead in the 65th minute through Iqraam Rayners but Benzia completed his brace in the 70th minute to draw the game level as it ended 3-3 in Algiers.
