Bafana Bafana qualified for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals after they beat Liberia 2-1 in Monrovia on Tuesday evening.
The South African national team showed their intent early on and broke the deadlock as early as the 19th minute when Zakhele Lepasa when he slotted the ball past Liberia goalkeeper Tommy Songo from close range.

After going a goal down, Liberia responded by grabbing a goal of their own in the 35th minute after captain William Jebor low strike sneaked past Bafana shot-stopper Ronwen Williams to draw the game level.

However, the scoreline stayed locked at 1-1 as the game went into the half time break on level terms.
South Africa started the second half off brightly as they went in search of a goal that would restore their lead in the match.
Hugo Broos’ side eventually restored their lead in the 53rd minute when Mihlali Mayambela found the back of the net following a great build-up play by Bafana.

Bafana managed to hold on to their one-goal lead until the final whistle and qualified for the Afcon finals.
