Bafana Bafana will face hosts Egypt in the last 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations after results went their way in the final group-stage fixtures.
The teams in Group E and F concluded their final matches of the round and Stuart Baxter’s team was fortunate that the results went their way when Mali beat Angola 1-0. It was a lucky escape for the South Africans as Angola only needed a draw to go ahead of Bafana among the best third-placed teams.

Baxter’s charges have scraped through, though, as the fourth team among the best third-placed countries – Benin, DR Congo and Guinea are ahead of them – and will now face a mammoth task against the hosts.
The seven-time Afcon champions won all their Group A games without conceding a goal and will have home-ground advantage.
