Banyana Banyana are leading the list of nominees for the 2022 Player of the Year award.
The South African Women’s national team currently has six players nominated for this prestigious award, which is the most by any country.
All the six nominees were part of the Banyana Banyana squad that edged out rivals Nigeria in their opening Group C fixture in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Making it onto the list of nominees for South Africa is as follows, Andile Dlamini, Bambanani Mbane, Thembi Kgatlana, Jermaine Sesopisenwe, Refiloe Jane and Linda Motlhalo.
The official ceremony will be held on 21 July 2022 in Rabat, Morocco ahead of the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) that is currently taking place in Morocco until 23 July 2022.
