Bayern Munich booked their place in the Champions League quarter-finals after beating Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in the second leg of their last-16 clash on Wednesday evening.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting gave Bayern the lead on the night at the Allianz Arena, and substitute Serge Gnabry sealed the victory in the final minute of play.

Bayern were deserving winners against a lackluster PSG side, as neither Kylian Mbappe nor Lionel Messi had the impact expected, and Neymar was absent due to an ankle injury.

It is the second consecutive year that PSG has been eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16, and the fifth time in the last seven seasons that the Qatar-owned club has failed to advance past the first round of knockout play.

They were hampered by defensive injuries, as captain Marquinhos was forced off with a rib injury after 36 minutes and his replacement, Nordi Mukiele, also had to be replaced at halftime.

Vitinha could have given the French champions the lead in the first half, but Matthijs de Ligt blocked his shot.

Bayern took the lead shortly after the hour mark, with Leon Goretzka setting up Choupo-Moting for a simple finish after Marco Verratti was dispossessed in his own penalty area.

Sergio Ramos came closest to bringing the visitors back into the game before Gnabry sealed the victory for Bayern late in the match.
