Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has shared his thoughts on the synthetic pitch at Huye Stadium when they take on Rwanda in their next 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
South Africa endured a 10-hour trip from Johannesburg to Butare ahead of their qualifying encounter against Rwanda.
The national team will go into the encounter high in confidence after they beat Benin 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
Broos has since touched on the pitch conditions in Rwanda and is looking forward to playing on their synthetic pitch at Huye Stadium.
“I think now with the group we have it’s not such a problem,” Broos told Safa.
“The Team wants to go far in the World Cup, and they will go far. They all know these type of situations and through it all the mindset remains positive, and I know my team will be ready.
“On this type of pitch (synthetic pitch) and its new generation, we have had some experience on it. But this one we are going to play on tomorrow is badly maintained, and the bounce of the ball is different. It’s going to be fighting football tomorrow.”
