Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos admits that winning their two international friendlies against Namibia and DR Congo “is not everything” but its good preparation for the African Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers.
South Africa will play host to Namibia on September 9 with kick off set for 3pm in the first international friendly.
The South African national team will then take DR Congo in their second international friendly on September 12.
Broos’ men will use the two international friendlies as preparations for their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire in January next year as well as for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November.
Broos has stressed the importance of claiming a positive result in these two friendlies as they look to extend their current unbeaten run.
“We have had some injuries and called up other players, but this is okay. This gives me a chance to look at other players and what value they add in the national team,” Broos told Safa.
“It is the performance that is important, it is the way we play and apply ourselves. Yes, we want to win, but winning in these two games is not everything.”
