Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the appointment of Cedric Kaze as the club’s new assistant coach.

Kaze, who was born in Burundi, joins the team with a plethora of expertise and experience. He previously worked with Nabi at Young Africans, where they were successful together, winning six titles in two seasons.

He is ideally suited to support Nabi’s team vision because of his tactical proficiency and background in a variety of coaching positions.

The 45-year-old’s strong resume includes a German Football Federation A licence, a CAF A licence, and a Bachelor’s degree in sport science.

In 2012, he was selected East and Central Africa’s coach of the year.

In Burundi, Kaze worked with the national teams. He began as an assistant coach for the U17 squad in 2007 and progressed to the senior team, coaching the U20 and U23 teams until departing for Canada in 2015.

Before relocating to the FC Barcelona Academy, where he spent two and a half years, he worked for a young football training facility in Canada.

He has served as a technical director and head coach in Tanzanian, Rwandan, and Burundian domestic football.

“Coach Cedric has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of the game throughout his coaching career,” said Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr.

“His familiarity with coach Nabi’s methods and their proven partnership will be invaluable as we aim for excellence on the pitch.”
