Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a massive blow as impressive youngster Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has been ruled out for six months with an Achilles tendon injury.
Ngcobo has had a surreal start to 2019, as he was first named in the SA U20 side set to play at the U20 World Cup in Poland after starring at the 2019 African Cup of Nations, where he was named in the team of the tournament.
The 19-year-old’s stock then continued to rise as he made his Amakhosi debut before going on to get his first start for the Glamour Boys by impressing head coach Ernst Middendorp.
Ngcobo has quickly become a fan favourite in his short spell in the side, but he will now miss the remainder of the season and the start of the next campaign, while he has also seen his World Cup chances dashed.
Chiefs confirmed on Wednesday that the player has seen a specialist on his Achilles injury, which revealed that the player will need at least six months to recover.
