The Soweto derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are set to headline the Nedbank Cup semi-final fixtures following the conclusion of the draw which took place at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday.
The first semi-final will see Stellenbosch FC take on Sekhukhune United, while the headline fixture will see Amakhosi go up against arch-rivals Pirates.
Stellenbosch made their way to this stage of the competition after they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 after a brace by Iqraam Rayners cancelled out Lee Langeveldt’s own goal at Athlone Stadium, while Sekhukhune reached this stage of the competition after edging out Chippa United 2-1 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium through goals from Elias Mokwana and Chibuike Ohizu.
The Buccaneers progressed to this stage of the tournament after they clinched a hard-fought 5-4 victory in a penalty shootout against Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Dondol Stars after the game remained 1-1 after extra time at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Meanwhile, Chiefs advanced to the last four of the tournament following their 2-1 victory over Royal AM when an own goal from Thabo Matlaba and a late penalty by Yusuf Maart cancelled out Lesego Manganyi’s opening goal at the Chatsworth Stadium.
