Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Benni McCarthy’s exit from Old Trafford.
The 45-year-old was appointed as the Red Devils’ forward coach at the end of July 2022 and has quickly became a key part of Ten Hag’s coaching staff.
McCarthy’s managerial experience includes being the former assistant manager at Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Sint-Truiden as well as coaching DStv Premiership outfits Cape Town City and AmaZulu, respectively.
The club have since confirmed the departures of Mitchell van der Gaag and Benni McCarthy and as a result United appointed Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy as assistant managers.
“Mitchell has decided that now is the right time for him to pursue his own ambitions in a number one position,” Ten Hag confirmed.
“I want to pay tribute to his fantastic service over the past two years, and also to Benni for his important contributions. We send them our thanks and best wishes for the future.”
