The South African Football Association have confirmed that world football governing boy Fifa has dismissed their formal complaint against Ghana during their World Cup qualifier in November.
Safa have lodged a formal complaint to Fifa and Caf on Sunday after their World Cup qualifier against the Black Stars, which highlighted many controversial issues and questionable refereeing decisions throughout the game.
The most talked about and analysed incident was when Senegalese referee Maguette N’Diaye controversially handed Ghana a penalty after Daniel Amartey was allegedly fouled by Rushine De Reuck, although replay suggested that there was minimal contact.
Safa have since released an official statement announcing their formal complaint has been dismissed by Fifa, which reads as follows:
The South African Football Association (SAFA) will consider its options after the world football governing body (FIFA) dismissed its protest following Bafana Bafana’s controversial 1-0 loss to the Black Stars of Ghana last month.
SAFA CEO, Advocate Tebogo Monthlante said once SAFA gets reasons for the outcome, will sit down and weigh its options.
“We have received the decision without details and we will request FIFA for the reasons and consider our options.”
