Bafana Bafana let a two-goal lead slip as Liberia came back to secure a 2-2 draw against South Africa in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played at Orlando Stadium on Friday evening.

South Africa drew first blood when they break the deadlock in the 11th minute after they were awarded a penalty when Percy Tau was brought down inside the area.

Burnley forward Lyle Foster stepped up to take the penalty and beat Liberia goalkeeper Tommy Songo with his well-taken spot-kick to make it 1-0.

Foster then completed his brace in the 22nd minute when he headed the ball home after latching on to a corner kick from midfielder Teboho Mokoena to make it 2-0 in favour of South Africa.

The visitors managed to pull a goal back in the 68th minute when Tonia Tisdell beat Bafana keeper Ronwen Williams with a superb free-kick to make it 2-1.

Liberia completed their comeback in stoppage time when Mohammed Sangare unleashed a thunderous strike from outside the box to find the top corner and beat Williams to earn his side a 2-2 draw in Soweto.

South Africa are now set to take on the same opponents again for the second leg when they square off at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia on Tuesday.
