Kaizer Chiefs had to settle for a point after they were held to a goalless draw against TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday.

Many fans were late to a sold-out showcase in the city of Mbombela, which has a 43,500-seat stadium. This caused lines at the turnstiles.

To make sure everyone was safe, the game had to start 30 minutes later. This was a pain for fans who had braved the summer heat to get to the stadium hours before the game.

Most of the people in the stadium were rooting for Chiefs, and when Galaxy defender Marks Munyai was sent off for a dangerous tackle at the 56-minute mark, fans knew the team from Johannesburg would win.

But Galaxy, which is in the bottom half of the league, defended strongly against Chiefs, who are in fifth place, to earn a second tie with Chiefs this season.

The Chiefs are the most popular team in South Africa, even though they haven’t won a trophy since 2015.
