Banyana Banyana doctor Nthabiseng Maesela has revealed that captain Refiloe Jane “should be back” for their must-win final World Cup Group G clash against Italy at Wellington Regional Stadium on Wednesday.
The Banyana Banyana captain was stretchered off the field early in the first half during their 2-2 draw against Argentina at the Dunedin Stadium this past Friday.
The team doctor has since given an update and confirmed that Jane went for a scan and sustained a soft tissue injury.
However, Jane is expected to be back in time for their final Group G encounter on Wednesday.
“Refiloe is doing well. After going for a scan it was confirmed that she sustained a soft tissue injury and she should be back on the field soon,” the Banyana Banyana doctor said.
“I can further confirm that there are no other injuries or illnesses within the team. Everyone is healthy and ready to continue with preparations for our final group match against Italy on Wednesday.”
