Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Collins Mbesuma is confident that Amakhosi have the talent to defeat Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
The Glamour Boys are scheduled to take on the Brazilians in the last four when they meet at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday, April 13.
Amakhosi advanced to the semi-finals after beating Stellenbosch FC 3-1 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Sunday, April 13.
Meanwhile, Sundowns booked their spot by claiming a narrow 1-0 victory over Sekhukhune United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday, March 28.
Mbesuma believes that his former side will show their true worth when they come up against the formidable Sundowns to book their place in the final.
“Every time these sides meet it’s always heated” Mbesuma told the club’s official website. “A cup match is a different ball game and it will be about which team carries the day.”
“I know Sundowns have been dominating and doing well, but I believe that anything can happen in a cup game and Chiefs can turn their season around with a win.
“They need to approach the match with a cup game mindset and a determination to come out victorious.
“I’m confident that they (Kazier Chiefs) have the talent to go out there and make a statement. It’s time for them to step up and show what they’re capable of.”
