Bafana Bafana captain Rowen Williams says he has always had “good memories” playing in Polokwane ahead of their FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.

South Africa are scheduled to play host to Lesotho when the two sides square off at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane City.

South Africa will come into this fixture sitting in second place in the Group C standings with seven points from four matches.

Lestho, meanwhile, sit in fourth place with five points, having won one, drawn two and conceded one defeat in four matches.

“From what we’ve seen it looks amazing, I think the coach and the manager were there to see it and we got great feedback,” Williams said.

“Today is going to be the first time we step on it but knowing the Polokwane stadium, I’ve always had good memories here it’s always been one of the best pitches.

“Hopefully the same crowd can come out and fill it for us again.”

He added, “We were hoping to see a fully packed stadium and when we were at the AFCON, there was a nice photo shared in the players group when we were playing for the third and fourth place.

I don’t know how many thousand of people watching and it came from this area Polokwane and whenever I look at that picture it gives me goosebumps because us as players, we united a country and brought so many people in such difficult situations.

“We’ve got our own problems as a country, but to see for 90 minutes everyone together, it’s amazing.”
