Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Junior Mendieta has left the club to join Greek Super League outfit FC Volos.

The 31-year-old joins the Greek outfit on a free transfer after he was released by Masandawana.

The Argentine winger has become the sixth player to leave Sundowns following the departures of Bongani Zungu, Gaston Sirino, Brian Onyango, Thabiso Kutumela and Abubeker Nasir.

The Greek outfit have released the following statement on acquiring Junior Mendieta’s services, which reads:

PAE Volos announces the acquisition of the 31-year-old Argentinian midfielder Júnior Leandro Mendieta.

Last season, Mendieta played in Santown, South Africa, making 29 appearances (2 goals and 3 assists), while in the same league he played for three years with Stellenbosch, making a total of 79 appearances (15 goals and 15 assists).

In Argentina, he has played in several teams, starting his career with Nportivo Moron, followed by Lanus and Atlético Refaela, among others.

Mendieta immediately after signing his new contract went to Portaria where he integrated with the rest of the Volos team and already started training.
