Kaizer Chiefs have announced they have extended the contracts of seven first-team players as Amakhosi prepare for the resumption of the 2021-22 season.

The Glamour Boys have tied down the likes of Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Happy Mashiane, Sabelo Radebe, Bruce Bvuma, Reeve Frosler, Keletso Sifama and Thabo Mokoena.

Ngcobo signed a deal that will have him remain at the club until June 2024, Bvuma also agreed to a contract until 2024, while Mashiane and Frosler penned another three and a half years, which run until June 2025.

Meanwhile, Radebe secured a long-term deal that runs until June 2026, while Sifama and Mokwena, who have returned from a loan spell with Pretoria Callies, signed contract extensions for further two-and-a-half years.

Amakhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr said: “We are happy that we were able to secure these seven players’ services for an extended period.

“We have to ensure that our future is secured and these are the players that will form an integral part in building a formidable team in years to come. This is in line with our strategy and the primary focus of reducing the average age of the squad and building a young dynamic team for the future.

“There are senior players’ contracts that need to be reviewed and we are in the process of evaluating and finalising those deals. We will make further announcements in due course.”

Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung had this to say about the contract extensions as well as their transfer activities.

“We signed nine players at the start of the season, many of whom were called for by supporters, and they have added a lot of value to the team. This means we have a good balance in terms of contracts when you look at the nine and the seven we’ve just extended,” Motaung said.

“We believe the squad will compete fiercely in the coming months so that we finish as high as possible on the log.

“The plan is to ensure that the coaching team should be able to plan adequately without worrying much about players’ movements. We will sit again at the end of the season to assess what we require so that we are ready in the new season, because this is an ongoing process.”
