Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Darren Keet has completed a move to Belgian First Division B outfit Oud-Heverlee Leuven after parting ways with Bidvest Wits.

The 30-year-old’s contract with the Clever Boys expired at the end of June and he made it clear that he would like move to Europe for the upcoming season.

The Bafana Bafana international has since completed a move to Belgium after putting pen to paper on a one-year contract with OH Leuven.

However, it will not be Keet’s first stint in Belgium having already made more than 141 appearances in all competitions and kept a total of 47 clean sheets for KV Kortrijk between 2011 and 2016, while helping them win the Belgian Cu in 2012.

Keet, who represented Bafana Bafana in the recent Africa Cup of Nations, helped the Students to a third-place finish in the Absa Premiership last season and managed to keep 11 clean sheets from 30 appearances across all competitions.

OH Leuven’s technical director Wim De Corte said on the club’s website: ‘With the arrival of Darren Keet we are strengthening our core with an experienced goalkeeper.

‘He has both international and Belgian experience.’

Over the course of his career, Keet has kept 93 clean sheets from 280 appearances in all competitions playing for the likes of Bidvest Wits and KV Kortrijk.

On an international level, the shotstopper has represented Bafana Bafana 10 times and kept three clean sheets since making his debut in September 2012 under then coach Gordon Igesund.
