Proteas spinner Keshav Maharaj has been ruled out for the remaining ODI series against Pakistan.
Maharaj will miss the Proteas two one-day internationals and is doubtful for their two-test home series, which starts on December 26
The 34-year-old has been ruled out after scans revealed a left adductor strain in his leg.
Bjorn Fortuin has since been called up to replace him the spinner for the final two ODIs.
“Keshav Maharaj has been ruled out for the remainder of the One-Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan after scans revealed a left adductor strain,” Proteas said in a statement.
“He will return home to Durban for rehabilitation and will be reassessed ahead of the first Test against Pakistan.
“Bjorn Fortuin has been named as his replacement for the final two ODIs.”
