Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune admits the Soweto derby won’t be an easy game but believes it’s a “must-win” encounter for both Amakhosi and Orlando Pirates.
The Glamour boys will be hoping to bounce back and return to winning way after they fell to a thrilling 3-2 defeat against Golden Arrow in their previous DStv Premiership clash over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Pirates comes into this fixture with some confidence after they clinched a 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United at the Orlando Stadium this past weekend.
Chiefs currently occupy fifth place in the DStv Premiership standings with 28 points from 20 matches, while Pirates are in third position with 31 points after 20 matches.
Khune admits they will face a tough battle against their arch-rivals Pirates but is relishing the chance to secure the win and claim their fifth straight win over the Buccaneers.
“So, going into this match, in our minds we are going to win and make it five in a row,” Khune said.
“The Derby is never easy. It’s a must-win for both teams.
“It has been a great journey for me, having participated in 27 Derbies, but again, it is more important for the Club to win the Derby and for our fans to have bragging rights.”
