Liverpool have agreed a British record transfer fee of £110 million for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to reports.

Chelsea wanted to get the 21-year-old Ecuadorian player during the transfer window, but Premier League rivals Brighton were adamant that they would not let him go for less than £100 million.

After Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left, Liverpool has been putting together a new midfield.

Alexis Mac Allister, who won the World Cup for Argentina and moved from Brighton to Merseyside in June, and Caicedo could play together again.

The price would be more than the £107 million that Chelsea paid for Enzo Fernandez in January, which was the previous British record.

It would also be a huge profit for Brighton, which bought Caicedo from Independiente del Valle in Ecuador for only £4 million in 2021.
