Veteran midfielder George Maluleka has broken his silence after he collapsed on the pitch during AmaZulu’s 1-0 defeat to Swallows FC on Saturday.
The 34-year-old received medical treatment on the field at the Moses Mabhida Stadium before the ambulance rushed on to the field to his aid and transported him to the sidelines.
Maluleka was given the green light and all clear by the paramedics at the stadium and was not taken to the hospital for further observations.
This was the second time this season that the veteran midfielder collapsed on the pitch after he fell to the ground during Usuthu’s goalless draw against Sekhukhune United on 31 December.
“I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their concern, care and support during this time,” Maluleka posted on Instagram.
“I am stable and recovering well in the good care of my family. Words cannot describe my genuine gratitude for all the support and care I received both on and off the field.
“It has meant more to me than you will ever know and I look forward to being back on the field soon.”
