Ilkay Gundogan bagged a brace as Manchester City beat Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday to keep their treble dream alive.

Ilkay Gundogan scored a spectacular volley to put Manchester City ahead after just 12 seconds. This was the fastest goal ever scored in an FA Cup final, beating Louis Saha’s goal in the 2009 final, which came after 25 seconds.

During City’s strong start, United was on the verge of freezing up on the big stage, but they stayed in the game and tied it when VAR called Jack Grealish for handball after he blocked an Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross.

From the spot, Bruno Fernandes did the rest.

City took the lead back when Kevin De Bruyne found Gundogan on the edge of the box. Gundogan volleyed the ball past David de Gea, who was a little off his feet, for his second goal of the game.

Gundogan didn’t get a hat trick because he was offside, and United nearly tied it again, but a big scramble in stoppage time didn’t result in a goal because Raphael Varane’s shot hit the top of the crossbar.

Pep Guardiola’s team will now play Inter Milan in the Champions League final next Saturday. If they win, they will become only the second team, after Manchester United in 1999, to win the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the European Cup all in the same season.
