Manchester United’s winning run in the Premier League came to an end after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday evening.

Bruno Fernandes broke the deadlock to hand United the lead in the 44th minute at Selhurst Park as they attempted to record their longest winning streak in 14 years.

But Michael Olise ended United’s streak of nine straight wins in all competitions after he fired a stunning set piece to beat goalkeeper David De Gea for an equalising goal in stoppage time

This was a huge blow for the Red Devils as they now missed the chance to move up to second place in the league standings and move closer to closing the gap on log leaders Arsenal.

“When you’re winning with two minutes to go and Palace don’t create anything except one from a corner and one from the free-kick, you don’t expect to drop points,” Ten Hag said.

“We have to invest more to get that second goal and then not be in that situation that a lucky moment costs you.

“In the second half we had a lot of space to kill them and go for the second goal.

“I never saw we really went for the second goal. It’s difficult to say why. I have to criticise my team. Go for the second.”
