Cape Town City have confirmed that striker Khanyisa Mayo has extended his stay at the club after putting pen to paper on a new contract with the Citizens.
The 24-year-old was rumoured to leave City with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Young Africans and Mamelodi Sundowns all interested in capturing his signature.
However, Mayo has since put pen to paper on a new long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2028.
Mayo has been in fine form for the Citizens during the 2022-23 season after he scored 12 goals in the DStv Premiership to finish joint-top scorer with Mamelodi Sundowns forward Peter Shalulile.
As a result of his performance throughout the season, Mayo was also named City’s Player of the Season at their annual awards ceremony.
“Cape Town City is delighted to confirm that Khanyisa Mayo has signed a new long-term contract with the Citizens!,” City announced on their official Twitter page.
