Neil McKenzie says that the Proteas will not become complacent in the final ODI against Bangladesh, and will hunt a whitewash win in East London. 

McKenzie proclaimed that Bangladesh are a good side and that they were just unfortunate to face an AB de Villiers who was in form in Paarl.

‘There are signs, there’s definitely no doom and gloom for the Bangladesh side,’ McKenzie told reporters on Friday. ‘I think it’s just when you run into a guy like De Villiers in his prime in Paarl last week.’

The Proteas batting coach also reiterated that the Proteas will not become complacent in the final match on Sunday, despite the contest being labelled as a dead rubber, with South Africa having sealed a series victory with a win in Paarl.

‘We’re just trying to win three-nil,’ he said. ‘You can’t underestimate any team, and Bangladesh have shown over the last year and a half that they have played some good cricket at times. They beat Australia in a Test game and they’ve beaten South Africa in a couple of one-dayers.

‘It’s another one-day international for us and it’s an honour playing for us. There’s no dead rubber and we won’t take the game lightly.’

The third ODI gets under way at Buffalo Park on Sunday at 10:00 am.
