Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena says they have everything to play for when they take on rivals Al Ahly in their next Caf Champions League group stage encounter on Saturday.
The Brazilians and the Red Eagles were forced to settle for a point each in the first leg after playing out to a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Peter Shalulile opened the scoring for Sundowns in the 34th minute before Mohamed Abdelmonem levelled matters for Ahly in the 59th minute before Hussein El Shahat handed his side the lead in the 74th minute but a 80th minute equaliser by Thapelo Morena saw the game end level at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo.
Sundowns come into this encounter sitting in second place in Group B on seven points, while Ahly currently occupies third place with four points after three matches.
“It’s going to be a good game, and everyone has huge anticipation for it. Both Sundowns and Al-Ahly have got a lot to play for in the group,” Mokwena told his club’s official website.
“There are three more games to go and a lot of work to be done but we’re taking it one game at a time. We will be taking on a good opponent and we are looking forward to the game.
“Our focus is always on ourselves. We try to make sure that we always do the best that we can for this football club. We have to focus on ourselves and our performance as well as give ourselves the best opportunity to win the match and get as close as possible to getting to ten (10) points.
“We also have to target qualification to the next round and work very hard because we have to earn everything we receive. Nothing is given to us on a silver platter”, said Coach Mokwena as he spoke about the team’s mindset going into the weekend fixture.”
