Khama Billiat celebrates a goal with Pitso Mosimane

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes it’s the right time for Khama Billiat to leave the club after winning the Absa Premiership title.

The Zimbabwean international has recently been linked with a move to Azerbaijani outfit Qarabag after Bafana Bafana forward Dino Ndlovu was sold to Chinese club Hangzhou Greentown.

The 27-year-old helped the club claim a record eighth title this campaign, having made 16 appearances in all competitions while scoring eight goals and assisting a further six so far this season.

Mosimane says he is grateful for Billiat’s contributions during his time at the club and he feels that it is time for the forward to move on.

‘It is good for players like Khama to win his last championship with us and give him a good farewell,’ Mosimane told the media.

‘Five years with us and he has done exceptionally well for us and we have to accept that he has to move on. It is good, he has contributed and it is the best way for Khama to leave… leaving on a high note.’

Billiat found the back of the net 46 times and created 42 goals from a total of 138 appearances during his five-year stint at Sundowns.

The Zimbabwean international has also won win three Absa Premiership titles, the Caf Champions League trophy, the Caf Super Cup, the Nedbank Cup as well and the Telkom Knockout since joining the club from Ajax Cape Town in 2013.
